Pre-School – Caterpillars
Jeavons Wood Pre-School opened in September 2013 in a purpose-built space on the Jeavons Wood Primary School site. We are proud to offer a nurturing, engaging environment—indoors and outdoors—where curiosity, confidence and a love of learning begin from the very start of children’s school journey.
We provide funded and non‑funded places for children aged 3 and above during term time. The Pre-School runs two three‑hour sessions each day:
- Morning: 8.45am–11.45am
- Afternoon: 11.45am–2.45pm (starting with lunch brought from home)
Children may also attend for a full day from 8.45am–2.45pm.
All children are entitled to 15 universal funded hours per week from the term after they turn three (equivalent to five sessions). Our main intake is each September. Children who are not yet eligible for funding, or who use their funded hours elsewhere, are still welcome to attend at a cost of £18.00 per 3‑hour session.
Some families may be eligible for an additional 15 extended hours. Eligibility can be checked here
We accept children onto our waiting list from their second birthday. Places are offered in age order, following LEA guidelines, with priority given to children who already have siblings at Jeavons Wood Primary School. We aim to offer a place to all children in the year before they start school.
If you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit, please contact the school office at office@jeavonswood.org – we would be delighted to welcome you.
To join the waiting list, please contact the school office for an application form, or download it from the left of this page. Completed forms can be returned by email or posted in the main school office foyer, addressed to the Pre-School.
